Tuskegee University Alumni Honors Founder, Booker T. Washington’s Birthday with National Day of Service
Tuskegee National Alumni Association (TNAA) is hosting its 3rd Annual National Day of Service on Saturday, April 9, 2016. April is chosen to celebrate the legacy and birthday of Tuskegee’s Founder, Dr. Booker Taliaferro Washington. Alumni and friends throughout the nation will partner with community agencies to honor our Founder through volunteerism and service. All groups are welcome to participate. This includes all TNAA Alumni Clubs, all TU professional organizations, TU President, Board, students, faculty, staff, family, friends and non-TU Alumni are welcome.
Everyone is invited to join the birthday celebration by providing service in your local community. We’ll will keep a total of the number of hours served by the Alumni and Friends of Tuskegee. Dr. Booker T. Washington was born a slave in Virginia and became an Educator, Author, Advisor to Presidents, and the Founder of Tuskegee University (TU) in Alabama. He was committed to both public service and community service. In his autobiography Up from Slavery Dr. Washington wrote “…those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.” The Alumni agree and have chosen this event to express their support of his belief.
